About this service

The Sentinel-1 GeoTIFF files are converted from the GRD-blocks output by Sentinel-1 NRT-SAR service.

NRT-SAR outputs floating point values and the GeoTIFFs are 16-bit unsigned integers, so the pixels in the GeoTIFF files has been
multiplied by a scaling factor.

This scaling factor is stored in the image description tag (“xxxx SCALE_FACTOR=3.28973”). To restore the original values each pixel in the image needs to be divided by the
scaling factor. Each image is scaled to retain as much information as possible, so every image will have a different scaling factor.

The GeoTIFF files are geo-referenced (contains tie points), but not projected.
